Dear 4th Grade Students and Families ,
I am very excited to welcome you to 4th grade this year! My name is Morah Glick and I will be your Hebrew studies teacher this year. In my class you will learn a lot, work hard, and grow. This is a letter to introduce some of the classroom procedures that will make the year run smoothly.
Sessions: Our Hebrew Studies day begins at 8:15 am and ends at 12:00 pm Monday through Thursday. On Friday our day will begin at 8:15 am and end at 10:30 am. Getting to school on time is extremely important. If your child is not arriving by bus, please be sure that that he/she is in school by 8:30 so he/she can enjoy a good welcome and breakfast and start the day well. Students arriving later than 8:45 will be considered Late.
Attendance is extremely important and your child is expected to be in school every day. If your child misses school, please send a note to school when they return explaining their absence.

Communication:
Homework folders will be going home and coming back to school daily. This will be my means of communication with you so it is it is imperative that you check your child’s folder every day. If you do not make a point to check the folder daily, you might miss some vital information that I sent you. I also encourage you to stay updated with our class website where I will always post the weekly homework and important updates. Our website is a fun place for parents to connect, for you to see pictures of your child, learn about life in our classroom and more! The best way to reach me is via our contact page on our website or by email shainablau at gmail.com I will follow up with an email or phone call as soon as possible. I can be reached by phone for emergencies.
Homework: Homework will be checked daily. If your child does not return an assignment he/she will need to complete it during recess time. If a student misses more than 3 assignments in a marking period without a note, I will contact you to discuss how we can best support your child.

Snacks:
Please provide your child with a healthy, OU kosher (Parve on Monday’s and Thursdays) snack each day. Sweets are acceptable in moderation. Please do not send your child to school with excessively sugary snacks or drinks, I will not allow them to eat it during recess as it will hinder their learning. Please send in a bottle of water daily. |
Birthdays: I would love to celebrate your child’s Hebrew Birthday in school! Birthday celebration's during Hebrew sessions need to be planned. I want to put aside proper time in our schedule for your child’s birthday so kindly email/contact me via our website to let me know in advance, at least by the Sunday before.
Supplies: Supplies need to be brought in the latest by Monday, September 11. Uniform is expected to be worn daily. A child that comes to school without their uniform is coming unprepared and will get a violation punch as well as be sent to the office. This year we have a new uniform sweater. Please make sure your child has enough uniforms to last the week.
Behavior Plan:
Students will have special opportunities for their Positive behavior to be recognized. Together as a class we will work towards earning
Bingo’s on our Behavior Bingo Chart.
There will also be a weekly/occasional raffle for our prize box where the winner will get to jump over a row of prizes and keep however many they pass. Students will have opportunities to earn their own bingo numbers on their personal charts, with good behavior following our classroom rules daily.
Students that choose to disobey our 4 rules will be warned once. If a student continues to misbehave they will receive a second warning and miss out on getting the daily number on their Bingo chart and an X warning on their Punch Card. If a student reaches a 3rd warning for not following our 4 R’s or other behavior that is inacceptable in our class, they will have to correct their behavior. In addition to getting a ‘violation’ hole punch on their punch card, student will need to fill in an ‘Action plan’ slip helping them think about their behavior and problem solve. They will discuss their action plan and have it signed by both a parent and teacher, before coming back to class the next day, to insure improved behavior.

There are 4 Rules that students will be expected to follow for a smooth year in Morah Glicks’s class:
Ready on time: Come to class prepared with supplies and homework done. Raise your hand: Be sure to get permission before standing up, or talking by raising your hand. Respect your teacher: Always talk with respect, and follow directions right away. Respect your classmates: Talk nicely to your classmates and lend a helping hand. I am confident that our class will follow the rules and earn special rewards. I am sure we will have a successful year in 2nd grade! Sincerely, Morah Glick |
